When you’re looking to create a gorgeous outside space, you may think that you need a huge budget to do it. And sometimes, when it comes to building the dream house and yard, that is the case. But it doesn’t have to be. It is possible to get some really great curb appeal on a budget or by cutting back in some places and splurging in others.
I love the yard and garden at our current home. It was actually the deciding factor, for me, on saying yes to this house because of all the various flowers that bloom from spring to early winter. It was so important for me, that I overlooked the fact that we only have one bathroom to share!
And, considering the garden is often the place that you finish off last, you don’t always think to keep the budget back for this part. Or, worse, your creativity is all burnt out, so you feel as if you just don’t really know what to design. But one thing is for sure, you’ll definitely want to create some excitement. These five ways will help you to do it.
1. Look After The Lawn
To begin with, one of the best things you can do to ensure your home is looking its best is to take good care of the lawn. Nothing beats a beautiful green lawn that’s lush and well maintained. A good care product and regular cuts can help achieve this.
2. Plant Pretty Flowers
The next thing that you might want to look at here is having some really nice flowers in bloom. Because that’s definitely something that brings a lot of value to the garden and makes it look and feel more special. Now, the only thing that you will want to make sure that you do here is to pick out the right flowers to plant. You’ll want to ensure that you are choosing kinds that suit the garden and will be easy to maintain. Daffodils are my favorite. They are already blooming in my front and back yard – even after my husband ran over the ones in the backyard with the lawnmower! They came back thicker and more beautiful this year.
3. Spruce Up The Deck
If you do have an outdoor eating space or a deck, you’ll want to make sure that it looks its best too. This means cleaning up the flooring area and bringing in fun accessories to make it look fantastic.
4. Add A Playground
From here, if you really want it to be a fun spot for all the family, you’ll definitely want to make sure that you cover off somewhere for the kids. Most of the time, you will find that they’ll love a swing set to play with. But if you have space, it can be fun to get a full range of equipment for them with rubber playground surfacing down too. Then you know that the kids have somewhere nice to play right in your own backyard.
5. Grow Your Own
Finally, you could also think about setting up a little vegetable patch. Sometimes, doing something like this can seem like it’s going to be a lot of work, but it doesn’t have to be. You can start something small and go from there. Having your own fruits and vegetables can be so much fun. Not only do you have fresh produce to look forward to and enjoy, but you also get the benefit of looking after them with your kids – which they will love.
