Stuff that doesn't belong in any other category and will probably have you thinking I am a complete lunatic. Because sometimes, a mom just needs to vent to the world about life in general, you know?
I believe taking a break, going for a walk, enjoying the brisk fall air, the last remaining heady scent of the summer's last roses, is cleansing. Until you twist your ankle on a rock that was hidden beneath the fallen leaves, falling face-first into the rose bush, heavy with thorns. I believe that there is a silver lining in every rain cloud. Until the nor'easter comes up along the coast and leaves your home under six feet of water and all of your belongings and precious memories ruined, gone forever. I believe that all human beings have a … [Read more...] about Until
Normally, everything runs real smooth around these parts with Life in a House of Testosterone. Our weekly posts and link-ups published on time, for the most part, and life generally runs rather smoothly once the boys are back in school and schedules are in place. Unfortunately, life tends to throw a kink in even the best thought-out plan of action and schedules. We Interrupt this Blog to Bring You Real Life That has been the case this year. Five years ago today, the world became a bit sadder, a bit colder, as the death of Michael Jackson traveled around the globe. Where were you when you heard the news? Strangely enough, I remember what I was doing that day much in the same way I remember what I was doing when America was attacked by terrorists on 9/11. Tre and I were cleaning up the apartment. I had "coerced" him into helping me get the house picked up before we had to go somewhere (that I don't remember - ha!) but we were dancing around the house and the television was on … [Read more...] about Remembering Michael Jackson
I never had the fortune to meet Maya Angelou, but I consider her one of my dearest mentors, a shining example of how I want to live my life. I first 'met' Dr. Angelou many years ago. I was going through a particularly dark time in my life and, quite frankly, didn't really care any longer if I woke the next morning or not. I was deep in depression and could not dispel the fog that surrounded me and kept me from realizing that I was in charge of my own life, responsible for my own happiness. But still, like dust, I rise. Maya's words reminded … [Read more...] about Saying Goodbye to Maya Angelou
I just laughed my ass off when this came through my email a few moments ago, and I just had to share because I'm in a snarky mood. Now, right away, the Customer at the top of the email and then being addressed as Paypal Customer are a dead giveaway. Not to mention that PayPal always puts their name as PayPal, not Paypal. Yep, epic fail right off the bat dear scammer. "We need a little bit more information about you to help confirm your identity." Really? PayPal knows who I am, and they have already … [Read more...] about PayPal Scammers – You Need to Do Better Than This!
