Essential Guide To Stress-Free Kid’s Parties

OMG! Nothing is more amazing than planning your kid’s birthday party, nor is anything more stressful, draining or panic-stricken. We just put so much pressure on ourselves to deliver something “perfect” because every parent wants to give their kid the best childhood ever, packed full of super-duper memories, and so we end up freaking out over the big moments, such as every single birthday. It’s a balancing act like no other. On the one hand, you want to give them an awesome day to remember and, on the other hand, you don’t want to break the bank (or your sanity).

What’s more, the pressure grows each year. There’s this feeling you need to go one bigger and two better than last year’s efforts. That’s why we’ve been busy coming up with some amazing ideas to help you throw a stress-free (and still amazingly fun) party. With a gaggle of hyper-kids running around, you already have enough on your cake-plate, so why not take the other stressors down a notch?

Let The Kids Help Out

It’s the prep that makes us parents sweat more than anything, which is why you should get your little ones involved. Have them help you pack the goody bags, take them decoration shopping with you, get them to make some decorations and then have them help with the whole set up. Trust us, unless you’re throwing a surprise party, your little one is going to be super-excited about the whole day and will want to be involved in the planning-slash-prepping part.

Forget The Food

We don’t mean forget the food entirely, but forget about handling the food yourself. It’s just too time-consuming and stressful. Trying to juggle sausage rolls and scotch eggs while you’re planning party games is just too much of a weird headache. It’s a much better idea to pass that buck on, whether it’s too a family member or, better yet, someone like Stamford Catering. Let a professional create some crowd-pleasing dishes instead. Not only will the kids be happy and full, but you’ll be able to enjoy the party too, and isn’t that the whole point?

Life’s All About The Timing

If you don’t want to be pulling out clumps of your own hair, make sure you pick a time and day that easiest for you; when you don’t already have a gazillion other things on your plate. For instance, throwing a party in the afternoon – or even the evening – will mean you have a dollop of hours to get things ready in the morning, while having a party on a Sunday morning will leave you with Saturday to do some party prepping too (and still leave you with Sunday afternoon free to get your head back in the game before heading into work on Monday morning).

Don’t Make It, Buy It

Yes, every mum would love to be able to DIY their kid’s party and make all the little tidbits with tender, love and care. But don’t do it if creating perfectly homemade party decor is going to stress you out. Your child won’t know the difference, nor think of you any less, so save yourself a few gray hairs buy buying some sweet decorations from the inexpensive store you love.

What are some tips you have learned that you can share with our birthday-planning parents to save time and money and reduce those gray hairs? Leave them below!

  1. These are fantastic tips for having a stress free kids party! Thank you so much for sharing!

  2. These tips are spot on. Sometimes I think the parents are doing the party more for them than for their kids. There is no need to be so extravagant……most of the time it just leads to frazzled, exhausted parents, who are in no shape to actually enjoy the event.

    • I could not agree more, Lynne! I’ve seen some parties where parents have really gone over the top with the extravagance and you have to wonder — are they doing it for their children or are they doing it to show off to the other parents and neighbors?

  3. Great ideas to make birthday parties less stressful for kids. We ordered pizza for ease of feeding kids and had someone make our cake.
