Find Out How a Cubii Seated Elliptical Can Change Your Life

As I get older, I understand how important it is to keep moving, keep active, and to do all that I can for my joint health as a individual who suffers with arthritis in both knees. That’s why I am thrilled to talk to you about this seated elliptical, Cubii, today!

First, I want to give you a little background on my health journey over the past two decades.

My Health Headed Downhill – Fast

Being a stay-at-home mom for over 15+ years, I worked from home and spent a lot of time on my computer, sometimes 10 to 12 hours a day. I usually was mentally exhausted after working all day and didn’t have the energy or the desire to do any sort of workout. The weight piled on and I started to have problems.

I suffered three blood clots in December 2016. One in my lung and two in my leg. I’ve had multiple bouts of bronchitis and pneumonia, all of which have landed me in the hospital for at least two days.

As time went on, I noticed I was having severe pain to both of my knees. I went to see an orthopedic doctor who told me that the only thing he could do for me was to give me injections every 3-6 months but that doing so long term could cause more harm than good. He suggested I see an arthritis specialist and begin there.

In March 2019 I realized that I weighed over 300 pounds. Something had to change. I started a keto-based diet and dropped $200 on a beach cruiser bike and started riding at least a mile each day. While it helped somewhat, it was still difficult moving and walking so I saw an arthritis specialist in June 2019 and started on a regime of medications that helped with the stiffness and pain. When I saw her in early 2020, I had lost 45 pounds biking and doing my keto diet.

The COVID Years

At the beginning of the COVID pandemic (March 2020) my doctor informed me that the more weight I lost and the more active I became (having done little physical activity previously except for my biking) would greatly help the pain in my knees and the arthritis.

I also added another program called the Silver&Fit program for those rainy days when biking was not an option around April of 2021. I stuck to that for about two months and then just lost interest with all the COVID problems in our household. I had been fortunate enough to not contract COVID, but my children and husband were not so lucky. I was depressed and soon the biking went along with the keto plan and I just ate and slept – something I tend to do when depressed.

A New Full Time Job

I started a full time job as a legal assistant for a worker’s comp defense firm in May 2022. So this meant early rising at 7 AM, traveling 30 minutes to work by highway or 40 minutes through the City of Richmond. Work from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM and then another 30-45 minutes home. By the time I was home I had no energy left to do anything, so I just kept telling myself “I’ll go this weekend” and when the weekend would come – eat and sleep as usual. So my pretty teal beach cruiser sat in the garage, still loved but unused.

Then winter came along, and as the holidays approach during the winter months I love baking cookies and stews and soups and all sorts of not-so-good for you yummies. And exercise? Yeah, I think not.

Where I Am Today

A recent doctor visit showed my weight had crept up again dangerously close to the 300 pound mark again, and I refused to allow myself to fall back into that trap and deal with the pain and stiffness. Since I also have back problems, walking was out of the question, but I made sure to get up and walk around at least every hour from my desk to keep the circulation going and my joints moving. I still haven’t gotten back on my bike (not from lack of wanting, it just has a flat tire) so when I saw the chance to partner with Responsival and test out a Cubii seated elliptical, I thought, what a perfect opportunity to jump start my health and exercise routine again!

What is a Cubii?

Regardless of age, ability, body type, or schedule, Cubii empowers people to find joy in their movement!

I absolutely LOVE the fact that not only is the Cubii a low-impact workout I can do from literally anywhere in my home or at the office, I do not have to change my plans to make time for the gym, or to go out and ride my bike in 90 degree weather. I can sit on the couch and watch television with my granddaughter (I’ve even been able to use my Cubii with her sitting on my lap – and she loves it), or while I’m working on a blog article (like I’m doing right now).

Unboxing Our Cubii JR2+

I was so totally surprised when the box arrived. The only thing I had to do was attach the pedals to the machine – and the pedals included the screwdriver and the screws to attach them! They literally just popped into place and then you secured them with the screws. My son put it together for me in less than 5 minutes!

I love the whisper-quiet performance (who knew something this mighty would be so quiet!) and the pedaling is so smooth that you’ll forget you are even pedaling! I did that the other night … was watching television and pedaling my Cubii and had hubby’s dinner on the stove. I got so into the routine and the television show, that I forgot his dinner and ended up burning his chicken and rice soup in the pot on the stove. True story!

Physical therapists often say, “motion is lotion” which shows the importance of staying in motion, especially for those who may be physically limited in what they are able to do with regards to regular exercise.

Did you know that pedaling can encourage better blood circulation? Improved circulation brings more oxygen and nutrients to your muscles and joints – which they desperately need as you age – to keep them healthy and lubricated, just like oil does for a machine. It also increases your muscle strength and flexibility, improved joint mobility, and decreased stress levels – just what the doctor ordered!

Regular cycling stimulates and improves your heart, lungs, and circulation, reducing your risk of cardiovascular diseases. Cycling strengthens your heart muscles, lowers resting pulse and reduces blood fat levels. (Google)

I’ve seen the Cubii seated ellipticals advertised on television and have always thought, “Wow, that would be amazing to have at home to use especially in the winter when it’s too cold (for me) to ride my bike.”

While the screen on the Cubii itself does not light up in the dark, there’s no need for me to see it because I can track my progress right from the app!
