For Our Moms and No Newsletter This Week

First, I’d like to wish all of our moms out there a very Happy Mother’s Day! My heart is heavy this year, knowing of at least three women who no longer have their children with them to celebrate Mother’s Day after their tragic deaths last month. I cannot imagine the pain that they feel every day, today especially, and I’ve prayed that God grants them the peace that they so desperately must be in need of now.

I would love it if you would stop by our Mother’s Day Gift Guide post and share a story or photo of your mom there. I worked hard on that post to celebrate all the various types of moms around the world lol!

Saturday, April 7th was our 7th Annual SJMS Booster Bonanza & Spring Festival. We had amazing weather – although it was touch and go there for a while! I truly think that it was one of the best events we’ve had all year! The kids were totally loving the inflatable events from Astro Events and the silent auction gift baskets were absolutely mind-boggling with all the great stuff that our students packed into them! Click the link to check out the pictures from the event!

I was up at 5AM yesterday morning to get ready for the Bonanza, and got home around 1:30PM. Hubby ditched me the minute I walked in the door and took off fishing leaving me with two starving kids. So off to Little Caesar’s we went for some cheesy crust pizza. We ordered three pizzas, and had to wait a few minutes for them to finish cooking, so Tre and I took a selfie:

Once our pizza was brought out to us, home we headed to munch and REST. When they say “cheesy crust” they are NOT kidding … man was that cheesy! Look at this:

Jonathan 0, Little Caesar’s 1! So while the kids were busy stuffing their faces and I could barely keep my eyes open, I decided to lay down for “just a bit” while they were eating and take a nap. My “nap” ended up being till 8:30 a.m. Sunday morning! Whoa! Talk about exhausted!

I knew that my daughter and son-in-law were taking me and Chris’ mom, Kathy, out to brunch today – so I didn’t want to go back to sleep because I knew if I did either I would wake up with a really sore back or I’d sleep right through my alarm. My daughter is NOT the patient type and would have been EXTREMELY ticked off if she had shown up and I was still asleep! So I got up and took a shower and got my clothes ready and all the fun things ladies need to do to get ready for a special event. I actually had about 30 minutes to spare before she arrived!

We headed to downtown Richmond to Ms. Girlee’s Restaurant. None of us had been there before, and we were hoping it would be a great restaurant. Let me tell you something – it did not disappoint. If you’re ever in the #RVA you have to stop by and check them out! We had the Mother’s Day buffet with the omelet bar and the waffle bar – made to order any way that you wanted. There was so much food I had to try a little of everything (except the grits – just can’t do grits lol) and by the time I got to the end of the line I thought my plate was going to overflow. Everything was hot, delicious, and left you wanting more! I can’t tell you what my favorite was because I loved everything that I tried.

The service was spot on too! I can’t stand waiters and waitresses that hover around your table all the time, constantly interrupting you to see if you need anything. Our drinks were automatically refilled when we started to run low, the empty plates were whisked away when we were finished, and everyone was just as sweet as can be. I thoroughly enjoyed myself – if you can’t tell!

They were even kind enough to send me a copy of the photo they snapped of us as we left the restaurant – thanks y’all! Finally it was time to head home, and naturally the minute I did – hubby ducked out to do some fishing! It’s all good though – I actually WANTED him out of the house for a little while so that I could catch up on mail, get the laundry put away, straighten up the living room and the kitchen and organize and plan for the coming week.

So with that being said – there won’t be an edition of Life in a House News tomorrow morning but we will resume our regular schedule next week and continue our series on Dealing with Mental Illness (specifically ADHD, depression, and other disorders that go with such a diagnosis) plus bring you loads of great new information and articles that you don’t find on the blog!

Have a blessed week my dear readers!
