I am of the opinion that children never really appreciate their mothers fully until they become parents themselves. Lord knows I sure did not appreciate my mother until I became one. There were so many things that she did that I looked at in a critical manner and questioned her reasons for doing what she did … but as a parent, her reasons and actions made perfect sense to me then.

So naturally, with Mother’s Day being celebrated across the United States this Sunday, May 12th, we just had to share some of our favorites with you just in case you procrastinated and still haven’t made plans to celebrate with the mom in your life.

As much as I hate to admit it, getting older brings about some aches and pains that can be debilitating at times. My two pain points are my knees and my back. I’ve tried every kind of over-the-counter medication, cream, brace, spray you can think of. Salonpas is the one and only product that has given me any measure of relief. Sound like your mom? Maker’s Mark Mint Julep and #CocktailsForCleanups
Summer is synonymous with mint juleps in the south where we live. I am doubly blessed to have some amazing Maker’s Mark bourbon to add to my fresh mint growing wild in the garden area off our patio deck, so for Mother’s Day there will be Mint Juleps for everyone 21 and older! Here’s the recipe if you want to make up one (or three!) for mom this Mother’s Day!

Sparkling Ice White Wine Spritzer

We absolutely love, love, love all the great drink recipes we share from our friends at Sparkling Ice. Here is another one to add to your favorites – the Sparkling Ice White Wine Spritzer.
White Wine Spritzer
Ingredients
- 2 oz white wine
- ½ kiwi
- 6 oz Sparkling Ice Kiwi Strawberry
- Lime twist for garnish
Instructions
- Add kiwi and wine into a cocktail shaker and muddle lightly.
- Shake and strain into a chilled ice filled collins glass.
- Fill with Sparkling Ice Kiwi Strawberry.
- Garnish with a lime twist and serve
Mother’s Day for Dog Moms

Celebrating Mothers Everywhere
I come from a long line of women who have been nurturers. I don’t remember a single woman in my family who didn’t mother me in some way, shape, or form growing up. Aunts, grandmothers, female friends of my mother … they all mothered me in various ways, and I love each and every one of them for the part that they have played in my life to make me the woman that I am today. I can only hope and pray for their continued guidance and support for me to carry on their legacy.
I don’t like to stereotype moms because let’s face it – we all got dumped into motherhood without a rule book or an owner’s manual to tell you how to operate and care for this little human being that was peeing all over you, spitting up all over your best outfit, or screaming bloody murder in the middle of the Sunday sermon.
We learned how to mother (and how NOT to mother) from our own life experiences and those women that surrounded us during our formative years.

Yes, my sons (and husband) are fully aware that they are the reason for my drinking copious amounts of wine at least 90% of the time.
I still can’t get my sons to remember my birthday, let alone Mother’s Day.
