We missed our Friday Finds for last week (March 16th) because I was down for the count with an abscessed tooth like never before seen in history. I literally thought I was going to die. The whole left side of my face swelled so much that I couldn’t see and ended up having bruises from the pressure on my skin. A round of antibiotics finally started to work two days after it started … but I was in miserable agony all of Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
So with that said, we’ve got double the fun for you this week! Check it out!
Let’s Talk Easter Bunnies
This has been one extremely busy week! Easter is coming up soon and we wanted to talk to you about the Easter bunny. I know tons of parents want to run out and get their child a cute, cuddly baby bunny as a pet. Are you really thinking about this though? A bunny can live 8 to 12 years (or longer) as a pet, and requires constant care and supervision like a dog.
In addition, they do not make good pets for younger children (under the age of 10) who have a hard time handling small, live animals. Your rabbit could get kicked or dropped by accident and cause injury. Last but not least, rabbits are social creatures and should ideally be kept in pairs. If you have a pair; however, you need to make sure they are neutered and that this is a service your local veterinarian can do. It isn’t the easiest of procedures.
Thinking of getting your kids a live bunny for Easter? Here are 8 reasons to NOT do that. #NoBunnies4Easter https://t.co/22zWgKhG5I pic.twitter.com/UnE4Qv9Mk9

So what are your alternatives? A stuffed bunny will do the trick and be with your child for many, many years. Look at it this way – no poop to clean up, no bedding to change every day, no veterinarian bills to worry about!
America’s Favorite Jelly Bean by State
I love jelly beans and I’m usually okay with practically every flavor BUT licorice. I just can’t stand the taste of those jelly beans. Tastes like you’re eating a mouthful of shit if you ask me. Blech! The Candy Store put together this cool infographic that I had to share that shows the favorite jelly bean of every state. I love how Virginia’s favorite is popcorn (where I live now) but my home state of Pennsylvania’s favorite is blueberry. I personally haven’t tried a popcorn flavored jelly bean but I sure do love the blueberry flavor!

Tragedy Plus Time: A Tragi-comic Memoir
Comedian Adam Cayton-Holland grew up in a close-knit family deemed “The Magnificent Cayton-Hollands” in Denver, Colorado. His father, a civil rights lawyer, and his mother, an investigative journalist, taught Adam and his two sisters to feel the pain of the world deeply. As all siblings struggled with OCD, Adam combatted it with stand-up comedy; his older sister pursued law; their youngest sister, Lydia, struggled with mental illness that ultimately took her own life.
Adam and Lydia (“Lee”) grew up with a shared sense of humor that continued into young adulthood, as Lydia worked at the door and behind the scenes of Adam’s increasingly popular comedy shows. Yet even this comedic family bond was not enough to pull Lydia out of the darkness she felt, leaving Adam to grapple with the trauma of her death while simultaneously having to focus on his career in comedy.
From Cayton-Holland comes a “heartfelt and brilliant” (Patton Oswalt) memoir— TRAGEDY PLUS TIME: A Tragi-Comic Memoir (releases August 21, 2018) which chronicles the author’s funny, unbreakable, and heart wrenching bond with his younger sister. Both a moving tribute to a lost sibling and an inspiring meditation on mental illness, grief, and recovery, TRAGEDY PLUS TIME is an unexpectedly funny, incredibly honest love letter to anyone that has ever felt messy or complicated.
Adam Cayton-Holland is a national touring comic whose new comedy album, Adam Cayton-Holland Performs His Signature Bits, releases on March 23. He is a Denver native.
April is Virginia Vineyard Month!
Now you know I love me a great glass of wine, so I’m super excited about all the great events happening next month. If you will be visiting Virginia next month (or you already live here), visit a Virginia vineyard to learn about the winemaking process, starting with the vines and ending in your glass.
I am going to check out the Heart of Virginia Wine Trail which is a group of six Virginia wineries located near Richmond, The Heart of Virginia! Wineries include Cooper Vineyards, Grayhaven Winery, James River Cellars Winery, Lake Anna Winery, Mattaponi Winery and Weston Farm Vineyard and Winery.
I can tour Central Virginia’s premier wineries on any weekend of the year with a $20 passport ticket which includes a souvenir wineglass, map of the trail and wine tasting from all six wineries.
Oh and speaking of Virginia fun next month – here’s a bunch of fun things to do the first week of April when the kids are on Spring Break from school!
