Get the Best Carpet for Your Space – 4 Things You Must Know In Selecting the Best Store

Thursday, January 24, 2019 by Kimberly Miller Leave a Comment

Our home that we moved in to last November has absolutely no carpeting – all hardwood flooring or tile. While great for cleaning, it is not always the friendliest first thing in the morning when your feet hit that cold floor in the winter. So we thought we would share some tips on finding the best carpet for your space too!

Getting the Right Carpet for Your Space

Choosing a good houston carpet store might seem a bit daunting. There are several different places to pick from – so how do you know which store sells the flooring that you want? Well, you could do a Google search and look at the reviews, but that may not help you as much as you think it would. You also could look up online shops to see what the selection is. However, neither of these things will help you determine whether or not the store sells the carpeting that you want. Here are four things that you need to know.

1) Walk around the Store

Yes, this sounds a bit time consuming, and you may not have the time to go through absolutely all of the stores in your area. However, you can learn about the shop just by taking a quick glance at what they have to offer. Ask yourself – is the store clean? Is the carpeting section easy to find? Are there floor samples to available to touch and examine? If the answer to those questions is yes, then you have a contender.

2) Pricing Matters

Next, check out the pricing. Do the prices seem exorbitant? Good carpeting isn’t cheap, but there are limits as how much the pricing per square foot should be marked up. Also, does the store run frequent sales? Checking out their website can tell you some of what you need to know about this. They might also have specials for people on their mailing list, so you might want to sign up for that as well. Anything that you can do to gauge their pricing is important. You need to know if you can afford the carpeting that they’re selling.

3) Are the Employees Knowledgeable?

The store’s employees need to know quite a bit about carpeting. They should also behave in a professional manner. You don’t want to end up shopping at a store with rude employees or those that virtually pounce on you when you walk in the door. They need to let you browse, and then make themselves available should you have a question. The best carpeting shops hire employees who are experts in the field. They can tell you all that you need to know about the flooring that they sell. If they don’t seem to know much, then you’re in the wrong shop.

Do they have the carpeting you want?

4) Do They Sell the Carpeting That You Want?

Ask any houston carpet store, and they’ll be able to tell you about the many options that they have on sale. However, if not a single one of those options is what you’re looking for, then they won’t be able to help you at all. This is the more important thing on this list, as you need to find carpeting – the one that you want, not one that you’ll have to settle for. If the shop can’t provide that, then you’ll need to go elsewhere.
