Idahoan on Your Table Prize Package Giveaway

I grew up in a meat and potatoes home, married two men who were meat and potatoes men, and my boys are meat and potatoes men in the making. I will be the first to admit that there is nothing like the taste of homemade mashed potatoes smothered in butter or gravy. But who has the time for that anymore? With a family of four, I need to peel and cube five pounds of potatoes and then boil and hand-mash – no mixers for me!

I’ve never tried Idahoan instant potatoes, or any instant potatoes for that matter. The ones that we were served in school were enough to turn me off to the concept forever. One day in the grocery store though, I picked up a box just to see what they were about. Two seconds later, a box of Idahoan Mashed Potatoes was in my shopping cart and I smuggling it into the house without anyone knowing. I followed the extremely simple directions (just add them to hot water) and served them to the family with gravy on the side.

They devoured the instant potatoes and never knew the difference.

Once everyone finished dinner, I asked if they liked the potatoes. They raved about how awesome they were. So that’s when I whipped out the empty box and showed them what they had just eaten for dinner. They couldn’t believe it anymore than I could!

Idahoan Instant Potato Flavors

Idahoan Instant Mashed Potatoes

Calling Idahoan “instant” potatoes just seems wrong on so many levels, because they are nothing like the bland boring tasting potatoes you might expect from something instant. Many years ago when I first tried them, there were just the regular or butter-flavored potatoes. Now? There is a virtual explosion of potato goodness available from Idahoan and they all taste absolutely fabulous! All my picky eaters loved each and every one of them.

From Au Gratin Homestyle, hash browns to casseroles, and no soy to gluten-free, Idahoan has a product for everyone! You have to stop for a moment and check out the Idahoan products page! Your senses – and your taste buds – will be on overload! I’ll wait while you drool for a bit.

You’re back? Need a napkin for that drool spot on your chin? I warned you! Here’s another napkin, you’re going to need it for this next section.

Idahoan Potato Recipes

What would you say if I told you that you could make Gingerbread Trifle with Lemon Curd and Raspberry Sauce, Flan, Chocolate Silk Pie, Lemon Mint Pound Cake, Idahoan Coca-Cola Cake, Chocolate Cake Pops, or Peppermint Patties with mashed potatoes? You’d think I was crazy wouldn’t you? Seeing is believing, my friend!

There are so many wonderful recipes on the Idahoan website! Appetizers, desserts, side dishes, main dishes, potato cakes,  and Mexican dishes, to name a few. There are enough recipes that you’ll never have to eat the same boring mashed potato side dish ever again! Take your napkin – and go check out the recipes!

Wait! Put the car keys down. Don’t run off to the grocery store just yet! Tell your stomach to stop rumbling, there’s more! I want to show you the recipe that the boys and I choose to make and then tell you about the giveaway!

Mashed Potato Topped Green Bean Casserole

The boys and I made the Mashed Potato Topped Green Bean Casserole because it is a favorite of ours all year long, not just for the holidays. You can find the recipe on the Idahoan website. The instructions are super simple – and you probably have most of the ingredients:

Simple Ingredients + Exceptional Taste = Huge Smiles & Happy Tummies!

Follow the instructions, mix up the milk and the soup together, then add your green beans and the french fried onions. Then you pour the mixture into your baking dish and you’re ready to pop it in the oven for 30 minutes:

Yummy Goodness is Ready for the Oven

Once you are finished baking it at 350 degrees for 30 minutes, time to pull it out, turn the broiler on, and add the Idahoan Mashed Potatoes to the top. Our family always likes to “kick it up a notch” so we used the Garlic and Parsley mash on top of our casserole (the boys suggested it):

ready for the broiler

Word of warning … don’t do what I did. I put some more onion rings on the top before I put it back in the oven to broil the potatoes to a golden brown. You are supposed to put them on after you broil the potatoes. That’s what I get, Ms. Know-It-All, for not re-reading the recipe to be sure. So just ignore the little toasty black bits on the final product!

Even with my little burnt french fried onions on the top, it tastes absolutely AMAZING. I pulled all the crispy onions off and put them on my plate (I’m strange, I love burnt anything!) and the boys each got a bowl full to taste the finished product. Smiles were all around the table, and I’m afraid that if hubby doesn’t wake up soon, there won’t be any left for him to have with his dinner!
