It is time for another favorite recipe of mine from mom’s kitchen – Chocolate Whoopie Pies! I’ve tried these delectable treats from various other places – homemade and store-bought – and sadly, none of them compare to my mom’s recipe! A super simple recipe, easy to prepare and takes little time at all. Get those little ones involved! They can help too!

Mom's Recipes - Chocolate Whoopie Pies
Ingredients
- Cookie Pie Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cup of flour
- 1/3 cup of cocoa
- 1/2 cup of hot water
- 1/2 cup of butter
- 1/2 cup of sour milk
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla
- Whoopie Mixture
- 1 egg white
- 2 tablespoons of flour
- 1 1/2 cups of 10x sugar (confectioner sugar)
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla
- 2 tablespoons of milk
- 3/4 cup of Crisco
Instructions
- Mix cookie pie ingredients well and drop on a greased pan by the teaspoon
- Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes
- While they are baking, prepare the whoopie for the pies
- Mix the whoopie mixture ingredients on high until very light and fluffy. Once the pies are removed from the oven and cooled, apply the mixture to the flat side of one pie and then top with another pie.
