Many people would scoff at the idea of keeping kids cooped up inside the house and being left to play online games. While these objections are valid, there is also a positive side to playing online games. There are practical benefits to playing online games.

Online games are often less expensive; most of them are actually free. This is the perfect way to introduce your kids to mind games, puzzle games, or strategy games. A lot of board games like Scrabble, Cluedo, and Monopoly have online versions. This will allow you and your child to discover what type of games he would enjoy best before you go out and spend money on board games. And of course for adults, there are a number of online games that you can play on like in the to at least, de-stress you from a lot of work.

Another practical benefit of playing online games is that you do not have to spend money for transportation or for food. Going out to the mall to play arcade games could turn out to be expensive with money spent on tokens and refreshments afterwards. Add to this the time that you will spend on the road, and you will surely realize the practicality of choosing to play games from your home computer.

This is not to say that you or your kids should be allowed to have endless hours of online gaming. A balance of active play and computer games is always recommended.
