Richmond Mural Project Comes to a Close

I have to admit, I’m a little sad to see the end of this project for another year. Richmond is a truly beautiful city in and of itself, but the Richmond Mural Project is really working to put the RVA on the map as the premiere mural city of the world.

12 Muralists. 2 Weeks. 20+ Murals throughout the City of Richmond.

Art Whino returned to Richmond this week to curate another edition of murals with eight to twelve of the top muralists from around the world. This year’s project built upon the 23 previously created murals adding another 20 this year for a grand total of 43 murals upon completion. The goal is to have over 100 murals by world-renown talent within the first five years of the project alone.

Why Richmond?

The Richmond Mural Project will establish Richmond as a landmark destination for internationally recognized murals as well as creating exposure for the city and establishing it as premier art destination. The City of Richmond is working in conjunction with this project to increase the “Feet on the Street” to help local businesses thrive. This project also serves to raise up our communities by placing the murals in areas that are in disrepair or may have abandoned buildings and low foot traffic, areas with high crime, or areas newly developed that are in need of an identity to make them “stand out” from the other areas of the city.

Be sure to stay tuned – we will be offering photographs of the completed murals over the next several months and information on the 2014 Richmond Mural Project as it becomes available!
