Ring in the New Year with Angry Orchard

This mom really gets happy twice a year – at the start of school in September and then again for New Year’s Day. The start of school signals the end of chaos and heralds organization and schedules once again. New Year’s heralds the chance to start fresh, to get my computer, blogging, and bookkeeping information organized, to renew my goals and plans, my dreams and desires for the year. I also swear that I’m going to do the weekly savings plan each year as well and usually end up falling short about February. I’m a work in progress, what can I say.

One thing that never changes though? Our New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day traditions.

New Year’s Eve Traditions

For as long as I can remember, my mom and dad put together a phenomenal seafood feast for New Year’s Eve. We would all sit around the rec room watching Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve show live from Times Square and count down to the New Year.

I cannot imagine anything better to accompany our annual seafood feast than this refreshing drink from our friends at Angry Orchard.  We are definitely going to be adding this to our New Year’s Eve tradition this year.

Award Winning Orchard Drink

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces Angry Orchard Crisp Apple
  • 1 ounce St. Germain
  • 2 ounces Champagne

Instructions

  • Build your drink in a champagne flute and garnish with a festive lemon twist

New Year’s Day Traditions

Just as we had our New Year’s Eve tradition, we also had a New Year’s Day tradition. I grew up on a farm, and my dad told us every year that if you wanted to have good fortune for the coming year, you needed to eat something that rooted forward (like a pig) and not something that scratched backwards (like a chicken or a turkey).

So every New Year’s Day, we had a delicious dinner of Pork Roast with Sauerkraut with mashed potatoes and applesauce on the side. I can still remember the smells coming from the kitchen as mom cooked and dad watched the football game.

This drink recipe sounds absolutely perfect to accompany our pork and sauerkraut meal this New Year’s Day.

Angry by the Fire

Ingredients

  • 4 ounces Angry Orchard Crisp Apple
  • 1.5 ounces Fireball
  • 2 ounces orange juice
  • 1 ounce heavy cream
  • 1/2 ounce of Vanilla Syrup simple syrup with vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Instructions

  • Shake and strain ingredients into a Collins glass with no ice. Top with Angry Orchard Crisp Apple and garnish with a pinch of cinnamon powder sprinkled on top.
