THE NOTEBOOK

I was spending today going back over some old photographs {looking for some in particular from 2010} and, in doing so, I came across a bunch of my old notebooks with notes and information that I kept, for whatever reason.

Do you do that? Do you keep a notebook handy that you just randomly jot things down in that you want to remember, places you’ve been to, things you want to do, the grocery list for next week?

While some of the information that I wrote down is completely greek to me now, there were still others that jarred that forgotten memory or brought a smile to my face.

For those that did not know, I was diagnosed with epilepsy when I was about 10/11 years old. Because of this, I had learned from a very young age that in order to remember something I needed to write it down, to have a reference to go back to that would jog my memory. Now, I think its more old age than anything, but I still to this day do this. I make little notes with the dates in a notebook to jog my memory further down the line when I have forgotten the details of a particular time or event.

Unfortunately, suffering from epilepsy as a child, and periodic seizures throughout my adulthood to date, each time a seizure occurs, it kills a few more brain cells {literally} and in my case, those brain cells seem to be targeted to the long-term and short-term memory departments. So if I do NOT write it down, it stands the chance of being gone forever. Somehow or another though, if I write it down, it rekindles the memories, so even this blog is my “notebook” if you will of wonderful things that I have seen and done and experienced.
