The Sights You Need to See in London

It’s no big secret that Teen #1 and I have a mutual love of all things London and the United Kingdom. We’ve been planning a trip to visit London for ages, and every time we discuss it, we’re filled with all kinds of excitement. Heading to one of the most famous cities in the world that is rich in culture and history is going to be a dream come true for us.

Unfortunately we may only have a few days to spend in the city, meaning we need to plan our time carefully so that we can see the places that we both want to get to the most. If you take the time to plan things out before your trip you can make a quick list of the must-see spots in London, or any city that you want to visit. If you’re visiting London, make sure that you include places on your agenda like:

  • Buckingham PalaceNo trip to London ever seems really complete without making a trip to Buckingham Palace. The residential home of the Royal Family, there is a great deal to city at this location itself. You can take a tour of the home and see all of the wonderful history, architecture, artwork and furnishings that decorate the palace. You also want to make sure that you spend some time walking the grounds so that you can see the beautiful gardens that are kept here. Finally, try to time things correctly so that you are there to see the Changing of the Guard, which is something special all on its own. Of course, I’ll also be trying to squeeze in an audience with Prince Harry to discuss our gold dust business arrangement.
  • Westminster AbbeyFor those that have a real love history, going to Westminster Abbey can be something truly special. The abbey is one of the most famous churches in the world and has been home to many famous weddings in British history for hundreds of years. The structure itself is a masterpiece to behold and the history flows throughout the building since it is the final resting place of some of the most famous people in history in the world of politics, religion, literature, music and more.
  • Houses of Parliament – For a real lesson in history and to see how the politics and government of the UK works, take a trip over to the Houses of Parliament. Not only are the buildings some of the most famous in the world but you can take a tour of the area and see just what goes on when the Houses are in session. It can be a great educational experience for adults and children alike.

Those are our mutual top three sites to see, but there are so many more great things that we can see in London during our stay.

A real key to getting to see all that we want is to stay at one of the bed and breakfast hotels in London Victoria so we will have easy access to some of the best attractions in the city. We checked out several hotels near the Houses of Parliament and found that the Best Western Victoria Palace is an ideal choice for our accommodations. The Best Western Victoria Palace keeps us close to the top attractions in the city and provides us with a nice play to stay without spending a lot of money for a hotel.
