    • We have some cold temps hitting Virginia this weekend … I’m planning on staying in with some hot cocoa and mini-marshmallows and lots and lots of Christmas shows lol!

  2. If you think of the bigger picture you can be much more comfortable in your house if you have better insulation. You are fighting a constant battle if all the warm air you are paying to generate is leaking to the outside. A nice dividend happens when you start getting lower heating bills and can stay warmer at the same time.

    • I used to hate it living out in the country when the power would go out in the middle of the winter. Wasn’t so bad in the summer time – you could open up the windows and catch a breeze from the heat – but not in the winter! Loved the one house we rented that had a fireplace – that was an absolute lifesaver!

  3. These are some fantastic tips! There are so many things that can go wrong during the winter. I luckily have never had my pipes freeze. But I know lots of people who did. I never wanna deal with that mess.

    • It’s a huge MESS Kristen! We had it happen to us when I was growing up in Pennsylvania and OH MY LORD … I don’t think I’ve ever heard my dad and grandfather use such colorful language before lol!
